Getting the editable URL of the document, in an Office add-in. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I'm working on an Office add-in for Microsoft word. It is primarily targeted towards to Word online users.

The add-in is an integration with another cloud service.

I would like to store the editable URL of the document in the cloud service, so that the user can come to the document and edit later.

Currently i've found only one API which is in Office.document.properties.URL, which gives the download URL of the document and not the editable URL.

But I would like to get the editable URL of the document, through which the user can come and edit the document. Atleast the URL of the page in browser will work for me. I tried window.parent.location, but access to it is blocked due to cross-origin-access.

I would like to know if there is any way to get the editable URL of the document, or trigger the 'share' action on the document programmatically and get a sharable URL of the document.

    Thanks!
