Outbound AS2 message filename RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a trading partner that we will be sending 3 text files via AS2.  The messages are the same type of text file but they contain different accounts in each file.  Our trading partner requires that these 3 files be named specifically when they receive them from us.

    COMPANY.FILE1
    COMPANY.FILE2
    COMPANY.FILE3

I don’t know if a custom pipeline can be used because we will need the AS2Send pipeline to send the files (and to the party/AS2 thing).

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

  • Here is a good blog post on how to do this with BizTalk. Basically it is handled through a MIME header: http://blogs.msdn.com/biztalkb2b/archive/2009/08/05/as2-filename-preservation.aspx.

    Thanks,

  • Ben,

Thanks for the reply.  I saw the above blog, but I failed to mention in my post that I am using BizTalk 2006 R2 not 2009.

  • Ok, on BizTalk 2006 R2 you would need to write the MIME headers yourself for the filename. So I think this means you would need a custom pipeline component that occurs in the pipeline after the AS2Send component. If you look at the AS2 spec at http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4130.txt and then search on filename it shows an example of the MIME headers you would need to set for the filenames.

    Thanks,
