ReportViewer Project/Application without SSRS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can anyone tell me if someone has created an Application or Project that uses the ReportViewer control, something that expects an .rdlc file and data source to be passed to it, or an xml library reference, etc.?  The key thing is that the web server this will be running on does not (and will not) have Sql Server Reporting Services (we are using Oracle only).  All the examples I've seen so far of a basic project include a Web Service reference to an instance of SSRS, and this will not be an option for us.  I'd hoping for something that can reside as its own independent application and be called by other apps for the sole purpose of rendering .rdlc files.

  • Hi,

Is this what you are trying to achieve?
    1.  Use ReportViewer in Local Mode
    2.  And use the data from a relational datasource (say Oracle)

Here is the link to a walkthrough on how to use a relational data source (in the example, it uses SQL.  You can use ODBC to connect Oracle).

Also, are you building ASP.NET or Winforms app?

  • Stella,

Thanks for the suggestion.  It will be a couple weeks before I can get back to this.
