Unable to connect to SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services with Office 2013 Power Pivot RRS feed

  • Question

  • I was trying to connect to SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services with Office 2013 Power Pivot and is receiving the following error message:

" The report server at 'https://xxx.xxx.com/ReportServer' is not compatible with this version of Report Builder. Specify a URL to a SQL Server 2008 R2 Report Server "

Can i confirm if Office 2013 Powerpivot can connect to SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services?

Are there any other workarounds if i continue with SSRS 2005?

    Thanks!

Yes, SSRS 2005 is not supported and that's why you get the error message

Specify a URL to a SQL Server 2008 R2 Report Server

  • Hello,

With "Shared Datasets" in Reporting Services you can provide the result as data feed, which can be consumed by PowerPivot; but the shared datasets have been introduced first in SSRS version 2008R2, in 2005 they are not available.

  • Hi Olaf,

Thanks for your advise. In this case, can i confirm that Office 2013 Powerpivot cannot support SSRS 2005, since there is workaround with 'Shared Datasets' that is not avavailable in SSRS2005?

    Thanks!
