and I opened expression blend 4

  • For making those various shapes as XAML paths I've found using Adobe Illustrator or Fireworks to make the shapes, then exporting them using Free third-party plugins to xaml makes it pretty simple to accomplish whatever shape you're looking for.

    Fireworks to XAML exporter: http://www.infragistics.com/resources/fireworks-xaml-exporter.aspx#FireworkstoXAMLExporter

    Illustrator to XAML exporter: http://www.mikeswanson.com/xamlexport/

As for the PathListBox, Chuck's correct. It's only for SL

  • Those shapes are part of the Expresssion SDK for Silverlight. Some of the components are also usable within WP7 projects. The SDK is available for download here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=3062

    Hope that helps!

  • What version of Blend are you using (specific verison # from the about dialog)? In version 4.0.30816.0 (the version for WP7.1) you should see the shapes appear in the shapes category of the asset panel.

If they do not, you can add a reference in your project to the appropriate assembly by doing this:

    1. Right click the references item under your project

    2. Pick add reference

    3. Find Microsoft.Expression.Drawing.dll from a path similar to:

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Expression\Blend\Windows Phone\v7.1\Libraries\Microsoft.Expression.Drawing.dll"

Once you add that reference, you should be able to add the shapes controls.

  • Those shapes are the ones built into the platform, others you can create using the a Path object.

PathListBox is a SL control, I'm not sure it is available for WP7.
