Metro style apps vs windows mobile 7

    Question

  • Hello, I've some questions guys.

    1) Windows 8 is microsoft next OS that can use metro style apps what is better to code metro style apps (C#,VB.NET,C++ and XAML) or (JavaScript, HTML 5). In windows 8 tablets microsoft use metro style coding and how it is different from window mobile 7 and last what is xBox metro UI.

  • Which language is best generally comes down to which language are you most familiar with. There are a few areas where one of the UI stacks is more suitable than others (for example: DirectX if you want to write 3D games), but most apps can be written with any of them. If you are already good at HTML and JavaScript then you're probably better off with that rather than learning Xaml. If you already know Xaml then you're probably better off with it than learning HTML and JavaScript.

    If you are already writing Silverlight apps for Windows Phone 7 then writing Metro style apps in Xaml will be very similar and I would recommend staying with that environment.

    Questions about xbox would be best asked on an xbox forum, or if you just want an overview you get lots of results in your favourite search engine if you search on "xbox metro ui".
