SharePoint List Multiple Filter Selection RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

In our SharePoint Server 2010 list view of messages we have columns such as 'Created by', 'Date Created', 'Date Updated', 'Category', etc. Each column has a filter option. All are 'Sort A-Z', 'Sort Z-A', 'Remove Filter', and then the specific values found in all messages. For example, the 'Date Created' filter shows all dates from articles in the current view, such as 11/1/10, 11/2/10,... ,11/15/10, 11/16/10. I can select one date and it shows messages matching that date.

    1. How can a multi-select filter option be enabled for a column so that I could select/deselect all, and then any number of dates, such as show me messages from 11/2, 11/5 and 11/15 - just like MS Excel's filters work?

    2. If filters are set in multiple columns. How can a button be created to 'remove all filters from all columns'?

    Thank you

  • You need to add a webpart of the list to a page (or a listview in SharePoint Designer) and add filters to the page (text filter, date filter, choice, list ... and filter actions for several filters) and connect them to the list. A couple examples: http://www.endusersharepoint.com/2010/08/25/sharepoint-filtering-with-web-part-connections/ and http://www.edutechnow.com/?p=664
