Windows XP Pro for Embedded Systems RRS feed

  • Question

  • My company purchased Windows XP Pro for Embedded Systems, however our site personnel installed Windows XP Embedded (NOT PRO).  I tried to find documentation as to whether I can substitute one for the other but have not found anytning (would need something as proof for our end customer).  Are they the same or different?

  • Windows XP Embedded is Windows XP Pro broken down into selectable components. XPe is a custom build by selecting components to build the image.

I have a video of a basic build process here: https://annabooks.com/Videos.html

Book on XPe can be found here: https://annabooks.com/Book_XPEA.html

The licensing price is different including the license keys. A Microsoft distributor can tell you more. With the life cycle of XP coming to an end, you might want to consider WES2009 (aka XPe SP3) or move to WES7.
