Hyperlink to Search Outlook On the Web RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello -

We're trying to come up with a simple solution for linking emails to support tickets. I understand there are a TON of email tracking/harvesters programs, but they all have their own little issues & deficiencies.

I thought i had a simple solution that's turning out to be not so simple :( All I want to do is create a link to https://outlook.office.com/owa that our users can click with pre-formatted search criteria.

For example, if we have a support ticket open for a email thread called "CompanyA User Can't Login", then I would craft a URL in the support tool like:

    https://outlook.office.com/owa/search?subject=CompanyA%20User%20Cant%20Login

Or something like that.  I found the REST API for Outlook Mail, but that's not really what I'm looking for. Is anyone familiar with how to do this?

    Thanks,

    - Jeff

  • Hello Jeff,

You can add an ID to the subject line for keeping the support thread and identifying emails easily. To use REST API you need to develop your own web site/page where you can display the requested info.

  • I'd rather not jump into the REST API just yet. Do you know if there are any query/parameters like I listed above? E.g.

    https://outlook.office.com/owa/search?subject=CompanyA%20User%20Cant%20Login

Popping a broswer window is completely acceptable for this use-case.

  • I don't think that such scenario is supported.
