How do you add to a Date RRS feed

  • Question

  • I need to add a specified interval to a field(date) and save to another field(date).  I am using Infopath 2003 right now sometime in 2012 the site will be upgrading to Infopath 2010.  I am trying to do the addition under a rule right now.  No luck,  I think it is format issue.  In an excel you can convert the date to a number do the addition and then convert back to date. I have tried the "number" function , but can not find the convert back to date command.

  • I don't have InfoPath 2003 install on my PC (just in a virtual machine).

Is there a fonction called "adddays" (in "fx", insert a function) like in InfoPath 2007 or 2010?

If you don't find, i will open my Virtual machine to check this.

  • Hi Andrew,

    The addDays function requirements are:

    addDays(fieldOrDateYouWantToAddTo, NumberOfDaysToAdd)

You must click "edit xpath" in the formula box before adding this or it will say it's not a recognizable function.  I unfortunately don't have a copy of 2003 any longer to test it on that version.

However, according to this post it says for 2003 you must use an xdExtensions to accomplish this:  http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointinfopath/thread/5d2da703-294b-425a-907e-de3a2d31a122

  • Remi,  Thanks for the information.  I finally got around to trying your suggestion.  The ADDDAYS function was not recognizable in 2003.  I guessed at the requirements within parenthesis.  It does not show up under function list.  It's probably a shortcoming to 03'.  2010 is coming at my site, just don't know when.

    Thanks,

    Andrew
