Why doesn't my app show up in the marketplace RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I've recently submitted two apps. "Secure Password" and "Secure Password Free". However, if I search for "Secure Password" on my phone, I can only see the free one listed as ~20th in the search result while the paid one does not even show up.

      • If I search the exact app name, shouldn't it be the first result?
      • Why doens't the paid one show up at all?

    Thanks

  • Hi mengbuaadev,

The search results on the device are currently limited to 50, and are returned in the order of recent popularity.

With this in mind, if you're using generic keywords or titles it's possible that your new publication may not appear in the search results.

  • although I now understand why my app doesn't show up in the query, I find this algorithm is working against the new apps.

Think of a extreme case, where there are 50 apps with the same keywords already, it would mean no matter how good the new app would be, it won't show up in user's search at all.

This sounds like a bad design.
