How to delete multiple User Defined Data Collector Sets (Perfmon WIN2008R2) RRS feed

  • Question

  • After uninstalling a 3rd party monitoring agent I am left with 30+ application made "User Defined" data collector sets. In Perfmon I can only select one set at a time, select delete and wait up to 10 seconds to be returned to the active window to start on the next.

    Can Powershell help?

Is there another Microsoft tool that can remove these data collector sets in bulk?

Is there a registry entry that can be deleted that will help me achieve my desired result?

    Happy Helping, community :-)

  • Use a command window

    > logman query

    will list collectors

    > logman delete "collection set name"

will delete them one at a time.

Best to redirect the output of logman query into a file and turn that into a script. I can't see a quick way to use for /f %i in ('logman query') do logman delete %i to do this unless your collector sets have regular names.
