Trying to recreate Help Desk site in SharePoint 2010 fails with an error RRS feed

    I looked up the GUID using http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mcsnoiwb/archive/2010/01/07/features-and-their-guid-s-in-sp2010.aspx as my reference.  However, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to add this feature to the site collection.  When I go to the top-level site and go to add site collection features Web Analytics Customize Reports functionality is not there.

    Clearly there is something I'm missing but since Microsoft is not redoing the Fabulous 40 site templates, any help in getting the old sites to work in a sharepoint database attach migration will be greatly appreciated.

  • If you want to activate that feature on your site collection, you can do that with powershell or stsadm. That is if you have access to the server. 

    Using PowerShell:

    Enable-SPFeature FeatureFolderName -Url http://server/site/subsite

    We weren't able to get the 2007 Fab 40 Helpdesk working after much trying, and essentially had to rebuild it using Infopath and some other trickery. Not a fun process for something that definitely should be a CORE part of ANY Intranet CMS -- PLEASE POST your fix/results if you're able to get the original Fab 40 working in MOSS 2010!!

  • I have tried to run the command on the Sharepoint PowerShell. It fails with the following Error:

    I have also tried to run the command to install it. The file "feature.xml" is not on the server to be read for the install of the feature. What else can be done? Is there somewhere that I can go to get the feature files so that I can install and then activate the feature on my site. I need this same feature for the Knowledge Base Template as well.

  • So I guess you are trying to install a feature that is part of the Fab 40 templates and is not available in SharePoint 2010. You *could* try to copy the feature from the SharePoint 2007 environment but it may not be compatible with 2010.

  • Also i wanted tı use Fab 40 templates in sharepoint 2010 foundation.But always got same error, 2acf27a5-f703-4277-9f5d-24d70110b18b feature is neccassry.When i want to instal that feature i got above errors.I could not understant why "free templates " getting out from Share point Service( MOSS 2010 Foundation) ??

  • I am also having an issue installing the Help Desk from fab 40. I am currently running Sharepoint 2010 foundation on a 2008 R2 server through Hyper-V connected to SQL 2008 R2 as a test environment. We are considering converting to Sharepoint Enterprise only if this issue can be resolved. The exact error we receive is:

    The site template requires that the Feature {2acf27a5-f703-4277-9f5d-24d70110b18b} be installed on the farm or site collection.

    I have only found that it may be  feature called WAReports. I do not know how to add this feature.

  • Have you tried to activate in Site Collection Administration -> Features "Report Server Integration Feature" ??

    FAB40's Helpedesk template for MOSS2010 needs this feature for reporting.

  • I have tried that and many other things. I would really like for this to work, but have just gone back to WSS3.0 with no other pplans to upgrade. Such a shame Microsoft did not want to upgrade the Helpdesk app, we would have ended up purchasing the Standard version of sharepoint if not for this....

  • The reason this will not install is because the feature you require is not part of Foundation it is only part of Server or Enterprise.  Have run into the same issue and the Advance Web Analytic Reports is not a valid Foundation Farm Feature.
