What control do i use to "mimic" tabs in ModernUI?

    Question

  • My app uses a master-detail design, and for the master side i want to be able to host two collection of items but show only one. The user should be able to select what collection is active, changing displayed items depending on what collection is actually active. I would like to use a control similar to "filters" in the Search Results Page template for Metro Style Apps.

How can i do this "collection menu/selection"?

Answers

  • In Windows Store Apps, it is always better to 'hide' Commands so that contents takes center stage. This means in your case 2 Commands to choose between the collections. Commanding design for Windows Store apps gives useful hints about placing such commands in the AppBars. See: "Place commands on the app bar - 2.Use the edges - Proposes 2 Views to the user".

When the user acts on a Command, the application Navigates to the Page that displays the relevant collection.
