The type or namespace name 'MultilineStringEditor' could not be found ... RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have no trouble using MultilineStringEditor in my windows forms app. When I tried to create a custom text box class with that  in a library dll with same reference added, I get

    Error	CS0246	The type or namespace name 'MultilineStringEditor' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)	mywindowsCtlLib	...
    what do I need to do?

  • Did you write the ‘using System.ComponentModel.Design’ directive?

  • yes, I did

    using System.ComponentModel;
    using System.Windows.Forms;
    using System.ComponentModel.Design;

    however Visual studio greyed out the last one flagging it  as unnecessary

    Did I miss something?

  • Hi gg edm,

    Try to add the System.Design.dll as a reference to your project.
