App Service deployed but resource not present RRS feed

  • Question

  • Successfully deployed App Service, everything came out with Green check. But, do not see the "App Service" resource in Admin Portal. The apps show up in both portals in the marketplace | Web+Mobile. When try to deploy an app, it just shows progress screen and then errors out - Oops...

  • Hello,

You will need to remove App Services before upgrading.

To completely remove App Services, download the App Service on Azure Stack deployment helper scripts and run the Remove-AppService.ps1 script.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your time and interest in Azure Stack.

If you experience any issues with Azure Stack or the current ASDK release, please feel free to contact us.

     Thanks

  • Sign-out and Re-login to the Portal and then check.

You may clear the cache/cookies/temp files and then check.

Just to highlight, you need to create an offer that has the Microsoft.Web namespace within the plan. Then you need to have a tenant subscription that subscribes to this offer. For more information, see Create offer and Create plan.

Also, you must have a tenant subscription to create applications that use App Service on Azure Stack. The only capabilities that a service admin can complete within the admin portal are related to the resource provider administration of App Service. These capabilities include adding capacity, configuring deployment sources, and adding Worker tiers and SKUs.

Ensure that you are running the latest ASDK Build 20180302.1.

  • Microsoft.Web is part of the PLAN being offered to a tenant subscription.  I do see all the Web App, but fails on deployment. Just says - Oops, something went wrong.

Also, on admin portal, it does not show the App Service resource (as per the validation steps in the documentation).

    Running latest build.

  • There is a known issue in admin portal when latest appservice is deployed on older azure stack (< 1802). Are your Azure stack and AppService latest?

Apply the 1802 update to your Azure Stack integrated system or deploy the latest Azure Stack development kit before deploying Azure App Service.

  • ASDK Version: 1.0.180103.2, which I believe is the latest. AppServices installer and helper scripts were downloaded yesterday only, so they are latest too. Had issues with accessing graph end-point while deploying app service, but restarting IIS on ADFS server fixed the issue. The AppServices deployment went thru fine all the way, no errors. But, can't see the "App Service" resource as mentioned in the doc. From tenant portal, it errors out right after selecting an app. The progress bar with triple dots keep spinning and finally get the Oops message.

ASDK install for basic IaaS features work without any issues. But, deploying PaaS hasn't been a good experience, nothing works. Not a good experience so far!

There should be just one script or template that should do the job. Too many steps to deploy PaaS. Need to simplify the process.

    [azs-ercs01]: PS> test-azurestack

                           Azure Stack Validation Summary

FAIL Infrastructure management controller, Network controller, Storage services, and Privileged endpoint Infrastructure Roles
PASS Infrastructure management controller, Network controller, Storage services, and Privileged endpoint Infrastructure Role Instances
FAIL Azure Stack Infrastructure Role summary
    ...

Restarting Azure Stack fixed above errors one time. But, on next restart, keep getting the above 2 failures.

  • Restarted few services (ADFS, WAS, WASP, Xrp) and now all test-AzureStack came out clean - all green. There is an issue with start-AzureStack script, it does not start all services in correct sequence! It's a hit or miss. I restarted few services (above) and now all looks good. But, the App Service issue remains. 1802 update does not apply to ASDK.

  • Looks like the CN0-VM can't connect to SQL. Web management console shows no servers and gives a db connection error.

  • CN0-VM has networking issues. It is not getting it's private IP from DHCP. Has set to APIPA address. It is used same VNET as other servers - management, frontend, publisher, etc. How can this be fixed?

  • How do we upgrade? Is it a complete wipe off and reinstall?
