    Hello forum,

a simple hello world script does not render/excecute in IIS 8.5, it is display as content text in the page.

    <%

    response.write("Hello World")

    %>

we migrated content pages from a server using IIS 7.0, we already enable .asp extensions, added mime types for .asp and added a handler mapping module for .asp includes. nothing has worked.

    Thank you for your help

    Hi,

    when you say:

    we already enable .asp extensions

Do you mean that you've add the 'ASP' and 'ISAPI Extensions' options under Server Roles > Web Server (IIS) > Application Development ?

Maybe you should check the 'Enable 32-bit applications' in your ApplicationPool settings too.

    thanks for your answer,

yes we already did both your suggestions, we are using the  application pool: DefaultAppPool as 32-bit = true

Could you tell us the symptoms : what do you got in you browser when you try to get the page.

And if you can post the corresponding access log entry, it would ease the troubleshooting. Thanks.

I get on the browser the vbscript code printed as text, for example

    <%response.write("hello world")%>

will display on the page as:

    <%response.write("hello world")%>

    instead of:

    hello world

NOTE: The vbscript is not getting render by the server even though all known configurations are in place.

Hum... Pretty strange behavior if the Classic ASP component is actually & properly installed...

You'll have to use Failed Request tracking to troubleshoot this issue.

Check request handler mapping. Seems like .asp is mapped to Static File Handler, so it is outputting the contents of the file as literal text, rather than interpreting it server-side.

When you open IIS manager, select server, do you see ASP icon on the right panel?
