  • Question

  • Hi,

We have developed webparts in Visual studio 2012 Professional trial version for Sharepoint 2013. But now the trail has been expired and we are trying to purchase the VS 2012 Professional edition. But while clicking on VS 2012 Professional link in MS site it is redirecting to the VS 2013 Profession edition. My question is both VS 2012 Professional and VS 2013 Professional are same. And do we have an impact on existing webparts if we install VS 2013 Professional edition instead of the VS 2012 Professional edition.

    Please help me.

    Thanks,

  • Hi K.R.Murthii,

    >>But while clicking on VS 2012 Professional link in MS site it is redirecting to the VS 2013 Profession edition. My question is both VS 2012 Professional and VS 2013 Professional are same.

Based on your issue, I know that since the latest version of VS2013 Professional is released, so the VS2012 Professional link has been updated to the latest version of VS2013 Professional.

Therefore, when you click this VS2012 Professional link in this MS site, it is redirecting to this latest version of the VS2013 Professional.

Generally, the VS2013 Professional added some features based on this VS2012 Professional. And I know that since this VS has the feature of backward compatibility, so we could open an application directly from this VS2013.

Note: you will need to ensure that you have been installed this VS2012 Update 4 after you install this VS2012 Professional.

However, after you convert this application from this VS2012 Professional to this VS2013 Professional, it maybe occur some compile error. So you will need to debug this compile error manually in this VS2013 Professional.

If you want to purchase the VS 2012 Professional edition, I suggest you could try to visit the following ;ink to see the various paid support options that are available to better meet your needs.
