Application thumbnail overriding

    General discussion

  • Hi,

currently we are working on application where security is a critical factor - user needs to authorize each time he want's to get access, also after period of inactivity(let's say that application was idle for 3 minutes). Another case for authorization is when application returns from background.

But now we've faced serious data leakage situation - when application enters background on both windows phone 8.1 and windows 8.1 user is able to see thumbnails of applications that are in background.

On windows 8.1 it is not so serious as the thumbnail is quite small, and it is hard to read any strings, but on windows phone it is really readable. Is it possible to somehow override this thumbnail?

We were trying to navigate to a blocking ui on visibility change or activation changed events, but it doesn't seem to give any results. On desktop we were partially able to achieve the result by swapping whole content of application Window(so replacing it with other frame) during visibility changed event and restoring this when application returns to foreground, but it is also not working as designed(e.g. the images or textblocks on this new page are visible for a second or two, and then we are ending with background of the page without any content). On windows phone it doesn't work at all.

    Any ideas?
