Cannot create device id with iothub-explorer or device explorer RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to connect a device to IoT Hub and tried both iothub-explorer (nodejs) and device-explorer to create the device id, but every time I get

    "UnauthorizedError: Unauthorized" in iothub-explorer and

    "ErrorCode:IotHubUnauthorizedAccess;Unauthorized" in device explorer.

I already have found this question: https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/lync/en-US/083a54ca-7e3b-4892-9d4b-99823376f716/unable-to-create-a-device-id-using-the-iothubexplorer?forum=WindowsIoT

But it's no help to me, I even recreated the IoT-Hub and deleted the old one, but no use. I copied the primary key for connections (3rd from above) of the iothubowner.

    Any ideas on this?

    Thanks in advance!

Answers

  • OK, solved. Don't try to use either iothub-explorer nor device-explorer under Win10 in a VirtualBox VM, because you'll get "UnauthorizedAccess" as I mentioned above. Under Win7 it works like a charm.

    Cheers
