Error message during installing SQL server 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greeintg,

I am attempting to install SQL 2008 on Windows 7 Professional, however, in the end of installation, the program always show an error message : :"Is not a valid logon or you do not have permission"; when the installation finished, the Database Engine Services & SQL Server replication have been installed failed.

Is any experts can help me to solve this issue?

    Thanks & Regards

  • I suggest to create a new account, only for running SQL Services. This doesn't have to be an administrator, just make sure that he has sufficient rights (run as a service, lock pages in memory, ...). During the SQL installation, use above account when asked for which account SQL Services have to run with.

  • Can you check whether the account you use to run SQL Services is not disabled or expired?

  • Hi Tom,

I think my account without both of issues you mentioned.

I just thought a way to try it that my laptop is a new one, therefore, I'd like to restore it to the original status, then try to use the account which created by vendor to install again, hopt this way can help me to solve this issue.

Please also let me know if you knew something I did wrong probably.

    Thanks & Regards

  • It did help...I ran through all the items and the one that finally worked was the use of the Built In Administrators group as the sole permissions to grant during setup.  Adding other users/groups caused a hangup.

Microsoft, you need to look this and your documentation over closely!

    Thanks Alberto!
