TFS Disaster Recovery Testing platform RRS feed

  • Question

  • All,

We are using TFS 2008 in the Platform(Operating System) of Windows 2003 physical system. We are taking daily full back up of our Database.
To test the Disaster Recovery we have installed VMWare virtual machines.

My question here is in the Virtual Machine we have installed Windows 2008 instead of Windows 2003. Please advice is it ok to have Windows 2008 Operating system for Disaster recovery test or will it affect the Disaster recovery test.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Raj

Using Windows 2008 should be OK. But I have some concern about using VMWare. There might be issues when hosting TFS or SQL Server in VMWare. KB 897615 describes the support policy for  3rd-party hardware virtualization software. If you just plan to use VMWare as the test environment, then it should be OK because it will not affect your production environment.
