Error when creating Xamarin.Android project in VS 2015

    Question

  • I created new android project and, after building it, got error: "aapt.exe" exited with code -1073741819 and "obj\Debug\android\bin\packaged_resources" do not exist. I really don't know what to do, because i didn't even do anything, just created it. I reinstalled everything, even xamarin for vs and android SDK. Still have the same problem.

  • Hi Vernir,

Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.

We did a test to creat Xamarin.Android project in VS 2015, it is ok.

Firstly, please check if you have installed all these following Cross Platform Mobile components:

Then you have already installed them, please go to Control Panel >Programs >Programs and Features, Select Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 and click on 'repair'.

If the above still doesn't help, I need you installation log file to troubleshoot this issue,
please use  http://aka.ms/vscollect to gather the installation logs. After using it, you will find vslogs.cab from %temp% folder.
Please upload the file to  https://onedrive.live.com/ and share the link here.

    Best Regards,
    Weiwei

  • Same annoying problem with me!
But I found a solution: read carefully this article:
    https://gxconsultancy.wordpress.com/2016/04/04/to-use-xamarin-or-not-to-us-xamarin/

    Unbelievable
