SharePoint 2010 SP 2 with May 2015 CU RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Friends ,

Can you please let me know after the installation of SharePoint Service Pack 2, and then if I install the version update for  May 2015 CU, does it come with all the previous CU's  . In the following article I can see there are many version update CU's came after the service pack 2 , http://www.toddklindt.com/blog/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=224.   Please let me know after the service pack 2 installation Is it required to install all the CU's one by one until latest one or Can I just install only the latest CU May 2015 .  Kindly answer me .

    Thanks

Answers

  • Yes, Cumulative Updates cover all of the bits from the previous releases back to their supported patch (e.g. May 2015 CU only supports Service Pack 2).

  • I think everyone should look at the communication from Sharepoint Products and Technologies team. I have found Stefan Gossner an excellent source of information regarding CU's in the past.

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/stefan_gossner/archive/2015/05/12/may-2015-cu-for-sharepoint-2010-has-been-released.aspx

Here is what the team says about May 2015 CU for Sharepoint 2010:

For May 2015 CU we again have full server packages (also known as Uber packages). No other CU is required to fully patch SharePoint.

Be aware that the May Cumulative Update for SharePoint 2010 is a Post-SP2 hotfix. It is required to have SP2 installed before installing the May CU.
It is required to have SP2 installed for the base product and all installed language packs to install May 2015 CU for SharePoint 2010.

This CU includes all SharePoint 2010 fixes released since SP2. The CU does not include SP2.

    Hope this clarifies your doubts.

  • Valmiki,Its just once the SP2 is installed you can install the May-CU directly in farm.It covers all the patches\fixes that come up with the previous CU's.so,Its not requirred to install all the Cu's its just May CU after SP2.
