How can I get the sender mail address RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • hi

    I'm writing an Outlook plugin.

    I intercept the "Send" event. then I tried to use get_SenderEmailAddress to get the sender mail address.

    somehow get_SenderEmailAddress() returns EMPTY.

    can anybody help me on this issue?

    why get_SenderEmailAddress() always returns EMPTY?

    or are there any other methods to get the sender mail address?

  • First of all check SenderEmailType - SenderEmailAddress will be filled if this value will not be equal to EX. Otherwise you have to like in http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee692174.aspx (Obtaining the sender's SMTP address paragraph)

  • That property is only filled in after the item is actually sent. You can handle the ItemAdd() event for the Items collection of the Sent Items folder and grab the sender address at that time when it's set on the item.
