Connecting Search Box Web Part With A Search Center SharePoint Site

    Question

  • Hi All,

I have a custom MasterPage build using an HTML script. I have added a 'SearchBox WebPart' to that MasterPage and it's viewing correctly.

I also have a 'Enterprise Search' SharePoint Site and I want to link these 2 sites together, so that when I search a query from the 'Search Box' then the query will execute using the 'Enterprise Search' Site an the results will show in the results page.

Is this possible? If possible could you someone elaborate how to achieve this.

    Thanks,
    Chiranthaka

  • Hi Chiranthaka,

You can edit the Search Box web part and change which search result page queries are sent to.

    1. On your site, edit the page and edit the Search Box web part.

    2. In the section “Which search results page should queries be sent to?”, select “Send queries to a custom results page URL”.

    3. Enter the URL. The URLs can be relative or absolute.

    For example: /SearchCenter/Pages/results.aspx or http://server/sites/SearchCenter/Pages/results.aspx.

    Best Regards,
