COM Interop performance RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a legacy COM component that I use from my .Net application

This did not give any (major) performance problem in .Net 1.1

However on moving to .Net 2.0 the same implementation has become drastically slow.

The call that used to take 2 seconds now takes 20+ seconds

I have tried using the COM component with following initialization methods

    1. RCW

    2. CoCreaterInstance

    3. Activator.CreateInstance

I do not see any difference in performance between these methods.

Is there anything specific tobe done in .Net 2.0 to improve the performance

    Regards,

  • To troubleshoot this issue, we really need the source code and the detailed repro steps to reproduce the problem, so that we can investigate the issue in house. It is not necessary that you send out the complete source of your project. We just need a simplest sample to reproduce the problem. You can remove any confidential information or business logic from it.

You can send a sample project and repro steps in details to my email address which can be found in my personal profile page.
