Univeral Windows App Project Not Available After 2015 RTM RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I've been using the Visual Studio 2015 RTM on Windows 10 since May.  When I installed VS 2015 it had a checkbox for Universal Windows Apps on the installation, and if you did that when you created a new project you could select a new Universal Windows app template.

Now after I re-installed VS 2015 using the build that was released 2 weeks ago it doesn't have the option in the setup and the template is gone.  I can select a Windows 8.1 Universal App template, but that's not the same thing is it?

Does anyone know, is there any new secret to installing VS 2015 and displaying the Universal Windows Application template?

    Thanks.

  • It's in the second paragraph. Couple more days to wait?

Here are the key release dates:

    • July 20: Visual Studio 2015 (“VS 2015″)
    • July 29: Windows 10, the Windows 10 SDK, and the Visual Studio Universal Windows app development tools

You’ll notice that Visual Studio 2015 will be available several days before the final version of the Windows 10 SDK and Universal Windows App Tools.  During that brief gap, the release version of VS 2015 will not work with the pre-release versions of the Windows 10 SDK and Universal Windows app tools so you won’t be able to develop a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app.
