Can't see my Storage Account In Visual Studio Server Explorer Tab

    Question

  • Hello,

I created a new Storage Account through my Azure portal in Canada East location (with all my other resources), and its not appearing in Visual Studio 2015 in Server Explorer under Storage. My App Service and SQL DB are there, but not the storage account. I also noticed that when I go in Manage Microsoft Azure Subscriptions, under the Regions tab, East Canada is not listed as an option. I don't know if that could be related to my Canadian Storage problem.

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi Marc,

    Thank you for posting here!

Download the latest Azure SDK 2.7 for Visual studio 2015.

Azure SDK 2.7 includes Cloud Explorer for Visual Studio 2015 which provides a highly performant, scalable tool for searching and viewing your Azure resources, inspecting their properties, and performing key developer and diagnostic actions from within Visual Studio.

There is no ongoing issues with Storage which are running under Canada East.

    Hope this helps.

  • Marc,

Just FYI, the reason it doesn't work is because Visual Studio Server Explorer does not display ARM storage accounts. (I suspect it doesn't display any ARM resources, actually). The Cloud Explorer does show ARM storage accounts.

You might check out the Azure Storage Explorer that the Azure team has built. It's free and multi-platform, and supports both ARM and classic resources. Check it out here: http://storageexplorer.com/
