TLS support RRS feed

    We were told that our asp.net app needs to handle TLS 2.1 when sending email. However, the only setting I see for a mail client is "enableSsl=true". What am I missing?

    We are using .NET Framework 4.5.1

    Hi dlchase,

    We were told that our asp.net app needs to handle TLS 2.1 when sending email.

    It should be TLS 1.2 instead of 2.1, right?

    We are using .NET Framework 4.5.1

    Only NET Framework 4.6.2 and later supports TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2. You need to update and change your .Net Framework version.

    For more information, please refer to How to enable TLS 1.2.

    Best Regard,

    Yang Shen

    Yes 1.2

    We also found a workaround by placing the below line just before initiating the mail server.

    ServicePointManager.SecurityProtocol = SecurityProtocolType.Tls12
