Writing to Excel: ADO.NET versus XSLT RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does anyone know the peformance implications between these two methods of writing data to Excel?

    1. Using ADO.NET with OleDbConnection to Excel.

    2. XSLT Transformation

I am assuming Option 1 is faster, but was curious what other people have discovered.

    Thanks.

  • XSLT is not a method of writing Excel file. XSLT is a way to transform XML file into some other form. In terms of performance, best way is to make performance test, since everything depends on what needs to be transformed/saved, volume and some other technical resources. I do not think that you will get any specific answer here. The only thing I could say is that XSLT is not really fast on complex XML files.
