Download for Office Tools for Visual Studio 2015? RRS feed

  • Question

  • On this page Compare Visual Studio 2015 Offerings it states in footer note 15 that the above installation is required to add LightSwitch into VS 2015 Community Edition but I cannot seem to find this download anywhere.

Does anybody have a link to download the above?

    Thanks in advance

  • To get #LightSwitch in the Community edition of VS 2015 you only need to install http://aka.ms/officedevtoolsforvs2015 (after installing VS 2015 Community edition)

Unleash the Power - Get the LightSwitch 2013 HTML Client / SharePoint 2013 book

  • Thanks Josh, that does look like the correct link. I've downloaded but not installed it as yet, just waiting for VS 2015 to finish installing.

I suspect there is nothing new other than perhaps some bug fixes - I mean server side as I'm aware of the slight update to the msls javascript file that was available in RC?

  • Changes noticed so far:

    1. The LS javascript and css files have been moved to a separate Nuget package now. This will obviously make it much easier to upgrade the HTML client side in future.
    2. The screen designer sports a new icon to indicate the top level tabs
    3. The default font for labels seem to be a bit smaller than before

I guess this is a good sign...

I think the scripts were moved to nuget a few versions ago like March'14 Update 2.  It looks like the only change to msls script is something minor in the web address viewer control:

What's worse is that version 2.5.3 first released in January or earlier yet the nuget now says it's July 20th.  So sadly they're once again updating the package without incrementing the version number.

    Not a good sign.
