Problem with creation of certificate key

    Question

  • Hi,

I need to create a package "by hand". So, for me to certificate it, I need to create a cerfication key. I am using the following command:

    makecert.exe -n "CN=something" –ss root -r -a sha1 -sv something.pvk something.cer

But it exits with error: "Can't create the key of the subject ('something')"

All goes well if I only create the certificate itself, but then, I can't sign the package.

I am following the steps on this page. Is there another way to do it?

    Thanks

  • Hi George - I don't have a workaround for you right now (other than do this in Visual Studio), but I will say that I cannot reproduce this in newer builds of Windows 8.
