  • Question

  • I get error 0x643 with installing this Windows6.1-KB958488-v6001-x64.msu file on windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I tried installing this file manually but it also said it failed without even giving an error message. How do I fix this?

  • Hi bobbert4ever,

Thank you for your post in MSDN forum.

Based on your error log, I found some error messages. It might be caused the following errors.

    1, [7/9/2010, 0:24:52]Launching CreateProcess with command line = wusa.exe "C:\Users\Randy\AppData\Local\Temp\Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Setup_4.0.30319\Windows6.1-KB958488-v6001-x64.msu" /quiet /norestart

        [7/9/2010, 0:25:26]Exe (C:\Users\Randy\AppData\Local\Temp\Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Setup_4.0.30319\Windows6.1-KB958488-v6001-x64.msu) failed with 0x643 - Fatal error during installation. .

[7/9/2010, 0:25:26]PerformOperation on exe returned exit code 1603 (translates to HRESULT = 0x643)

Error code 1603 means that when you upgrade your KB958488-v6001-x64, this fail will be occurred.

I would have some options as below.

1, you could verify whether this issue is caused by Windows Update or not. Most importantly, if your Windows Update is failing, it means your machine does not have the latest security updates from Microsoft.

2, on the basis of your error log, you do not restart after you have completed installation of .net framework 4. I would recommend uninstall your framework and reinstall it again, remember to restart your OS.

Hope this helps you! If you have any doubts and concerns, please feel free to let me know. We are going to continue to follow-up.

    Best Regards

  • Hi every one...

I will solve this problem very easily.

Just re-install your windows O.S (if any)

("don't install any other software like drivers and utilities..")

    then install dotNet framework 40.

after installing dotnet, continue driver and other all softwares.

    then say Alhamdulillah (Thank God!!!)
