Hyper-V: How to make Hyper-V default switch PRIVATE network on host RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I actually use Win 10 1803 on host, but IMO should not really matter.

How do I make (ON HOST) default switch network PRIVATE, so that I can enable network discovery etc. on it?

    Thanks!

  • Hmm... the second I asked I found it:

    $Profile = Get-NetConnectionProfile  -InterfaceAlias "vEthernet (Default Switch)"
    $Profile.NetworkCategory = "Private"
    Set-NetConnectionProfile -InputObject $Profile

  • FYI, This solution no longer works for me in Win 10 1903.  The "vEthernet (Default Switch)" interface does not appear in the list of interface returned by "Get-NetConnectionProfile".  I have not been able to find an alternate method to set the profile.
