  • Question

  • I download the Visual Web Developer 2010 Express, looks great. When I tried to use the help file it wanted to download a bunch of stuff and install. So I tried but it never would work,  a ton of little gitches. So I uninstalled everything and went to the online help, which seems to work great. My problem is that all the help is for Visual Studio which is now integrated so is valid in parts, but what about "Web Developer" help??

  • The Help system is a little goofy in my opinion.  Never tried it with VWD.  But, have you noticed that service that runs when you run the online help?  That little icon on the taskbar notify icon area?   Yeah, that one.

That service needs to be running when you download content from the web to your hard drive.  Now.  You must add the content to your Help system while that service is running.  You perform these steps with the Libray Manager, which you seemed to have used without success.  It needs to have that service running when it is used.

Oh yeah.  When you exit Visual Studio, the service keeps running.  I have found that I need to manually shut it down under Win7 before I shut of my PC.

    Hope this helps.

  • You might want to try posting to the Visual Web Developer Express forum if you don't get an answer here:
