Not sure but I'd try contacting the host provider because you're targeting 4.0 whereas the error details refer to framework 2.0. So it might need to be moved to a different app pool, one that supports/runs 4.0.

    Hi gperiyannan,

Please make sure that your hosting provider support asp.net 4 version. You can ask them to setup it for you or you can change directly from your Control Panel. I believe it will fix your issue.

    Hello,

From the information pasted above it seems that you have selected 2.0 version for .Net Framework. Check last line of error.

Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.5466; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.5456

targetFramework element of web.config file is not present in .Net 2.0 version.

If you want to continue using 2.0 version simply remove targetFramework from your web.config.

If you have converted your site and want to use 3.5 or above framework than change the .Net version of your project from 2.0 to 3.5 or above. You can do that from Project Properties >> Application Tab >> Target Framework dropdown

If your hosting is asp.net 4.0 compatible, you should be able to configure your site with that framework in hosting control panel. Most host configure your site under 2.0 with my experience.

    Hi gperiyannan,

I was having same error and posted the thread here and cleared the error

By changing framework version to 4.0.

In IIS whatever application pool you have selected, must be configured to use framework 4.0.

    Have a look here

    Thanks,
