Create a common VBA project for Word and Excel which should be run on Windows and MAC RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to create a common VBA project for Word and Excel which should be run on Windows and MAC OS.

Can MS Office 2016 VBA code run on old versions of MS Office?

From where I can start my project?

    Thanks,

    Sarah

  • It is not possible using VBA.

You can create Office Add-ins that runs in all Office enviroments (both Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PC, Mac and Web).

However, the programming/markup languages used in this case is HTML+JavaScript+CSS. It is also recommended Visual Studio to develop the projects. See more at: http://dev.office.com/getting-started/addins

You can, however, create a cross-plataform VBA project that runs in Excel both on PC and Mac or a a cross-plataform VBA project that runs in Word both on PC and Mac.
