The application is not installed Error in SSDT RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I am using SSAS 2017 Tabular. I was creating a tabular Project in SSDT. All of a sudden while I was developing it asked me to restart SSDT and now when I open the same tabular Project it is throwing error.

Any help would be really appreciated. Also many time the SSDT hangs. Is it a known issue ?

    Regards,

    Akash

    Thanks for your question.

In this sceanrio, this should be a SSDT issue. Please do a repair install for SSDT. See if it will resolve this issue.

  • And surprisingly the other tabular project also doesnt work. So the issue is not at code level. Something has happened at infra level.

  • And it automatically removed Tabular Projects from New> Projects >Analysis Services

    This is so weird..

I understand this should be SSDT issue. I have already triggered repair. But wanted to understand the root cause to avoid the same error in future.

I performed a repair of Visual Studio 2017 and that didn't solve the problem either.  I guess I'll have to format my computer and start all over again.    Should my company bill Microsoft for my hours?

  • Restart your laptop and rerun the setup file. This should fix the above issue.

  • Brother I feel your pain - did that check from Microsoft arrive yet?

    I have the same issue.

I cancelled a model deployment and VS17 crashed on me. When I tried to reopen the solution it said the project was "incompatible" and removed the .bim and other project items - replacing them with "The application is not installed" - tried to add the items back individually - no luck.

VS 2017/SSDT is lovely but it's been relatively unstable.

If I need to rebuild this model I'm gonna be sub-happy.

  • you have to:

1- right click on the solution

    2- choose resolve

then the VS solution will be back as the last built status :)

i hope that i helped you
