What are benfits of DSSP against DPWS? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Could u explain me main architectural differences between DSSP and DPWS/WSDAPI, and what is the reason of not chosing standard like DPWS? What would be disadvantages of using DPWS in similar scenario?

Could DPWS be integrated with VPL?

    Thank You.

  • Although DSSP is conceptually similar to web services, its design pre-dates a lot of the web service standards. You can download the definition of DSSP from here: http://purl.org/msrs/dssp.pdf

No, you cannot use DPWS in VPL directly. However, you could write a service that acted as a "bridge" between DSS and other web services.

And looking at the retrospective if some similar standards where there, like MQTT and DPWS, would u choose them or is there some prevailing benefits of using DSSP?

Maybe speed, simplicity or smth else?

    Thank You.
