Inconsistency with Apple store policy and Microsoft Store validation RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm working on an add-in that allows users to mail documents right from within Office and our add-in is being denied due to validation rule 10.8 (https://dev.office.com/officestore/docs/validation-policies). We checked Apple's store policy related to this and observed the following:

3.1.5 Physical Goods and Services Outside of the App: If your app enables people to purchase goods or services that will be consumed outside of the app, you must use purchase methods other than IAP to collect those payments, such as Apple Pay or traditional credit card entry. Apps may facilitate transmission of approved virtual currencies (e.g. Bitcoin, DogeCoin) provided that they do so in compliance with all state and federal laws for the territories in which the app functions.

We currently are using the "traditional credit card entry" method in the add-in which allows users "to purchase goods or services that will be consumed outside of the app..." which complies with Apple's store policy and therefore do not understand why Microsoft does not allow us to offer such a feature in the add-in.

    Thanks,
    Daniel
