How to interrupt a process via Output Window RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

My extension prints out some information into the VS Output Window line by line. And this process may take considerable time. How to interrupt the process like it's made for building (Ctrl+Break)?

    Thanks, Vadim.

  • Ctrl+Break is bound to Build.Cancel. If you have a toolwindow you can simply handle that command, if your process that is outputting to the output window is external you would need to handle the cancellation. Likely you would need a priority command target and a way to communicate with the the process that it should stop (I am assuming killing it would probably not be desirable, better it cooperatively shut down).
