Installed Help does not display in Contents pane RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have installed a localized Help file into VS 2010/HV1.1 but the topics do not display in the Contents pane. The Help Viewer Home page shows that it is installed. Also shows .NET Development is installed, but it, too, does not display the topics in the Contents pane.

    How can I resolve this?

  • First up please do an update of all help. There have been some fixes in this area.

There are 2 reasons why installed help won't appear in the TOC.

    1. The topic your help is parenting into does not exist.

    2. Sometimes the Help Viewer won't allow mixed topic versions.

What is the MS Help that you are having problems with?

BTW try H3Viewer.exe -- In this free replacement viewer you can make missing TOC segments show by performing a search for one of the missing topics, then click TOC-Sync. The missing TOC segment will appear in the root of the TOC.
