Unable to geocode in sweden RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi.

    I have somes troubles using the Bing map service.

    As an example I need to find the town "Sorunda" in sweden, like this:

    var _geocodeService = new GeocodeServiceClient("BasicHttpBinding_IGeocodeService");

    var request = new GeocodeRequest{Credentials = new Credentials {ApplicationId = "MyKey"},};

    request.Address = new Js.GeoCode.GeoServiceReference.Address() {

                                CountryRegion = "Sweden",

                                //PostalCode = "14802",

                                PostalTown = "Sorunda"};

    var locations = _geocodeService.Geocode(request);

    This gives me the middle of Sweden with "medium" Confidence.

    But If I provide the PostalCode (which I might now have) as well, I actually get the town, but still with "Medium" confidence.

    So I am unable to tell wether I hit the town or not.

    If I provide the PostalCode in other cases I get the middle of sweden since a lot of PostalCodes are PostBoxes.

    I am really at a loss since I now cant geocode automatically in sweden unless I know if I am looking at a PostBox postal code or a postal code that will provide me with an actual address.

    I tried to compare google maps vs bing maps the manual way:

    Unable to find the town: http://www.bing.com/maps/?q=sorunda+sweden

    Right on the spot: https://maps.google.dk/maps?q=Sorunda+sweden

    Do anyone have expirence geocoding automatically in sweden and how to solve these issues?
