Access to massive storage like external flash memory

Question

Hi all,
I know that it was in beta release the ability to access to mutable storage, but I'd like to ask if is that possible to access to an external flash memory for storing data. Maybe using GPIO/UART?
Thanks in advance

Hello Santi,
Thanks for the clarification!
We are tracking the requirement to support access to external Flash memory via SPI. Once we light up the SPI interface itself (coming soon!), we'll look to show examples of this use case. Is this what you were looking for?
Also may I kindly ask you to open a feature request here so others can upvote it as well? Let us know the link or existent request that you upvote :).
Thank you!

Hello Santi,
Mutable storage is now supported as of the 18.11 release - see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure-sphere/app-development/storage
Is that what you were looking for?
Thank you!

Hi Antonio,
Thanks for your reply. I already reviewed the mutable storage option, and if I did understand it correct, this is for accessing to the internal flash memory and is limited to 64K.
What I need is to be able to plug an external flash memory (like a MicroSD card) and access to that storage. This is useful when using the device in the field and you want to keep a "local cache" or just keep the data for later processing.
Thanks!

That sounds great!
I also upvote that feature in the Azure Feedback page.
