Windows 10 Mail missing any kind of manual/automatic IMAP folder configuration RRS feed

  • Question

  • Note: I was advised in this thread to post my question here.

It seems that "Windows 10 Mail" does not provide manual IMAP folder configuration.

According to an answer here, it also does not provide automatic IMAP folder configuration

via RFC 6154 (IMAP LIST Extension for Special-Use Mailboxes, also known as XLIST).

This basically means that "Windows 10 Mail" is unusable whenever a mail server uses

different IMAP folders than the hardcoded/default ones in "Windows 10 Mail".

Please correct me if my conclusion is wrong.

    This leads to two questions:

    1. Why has Microsoft developed a mail client which cannot handle IMAP folders (i.e. the minimum basic requirements for any mail client)?
    2. Is the development team behind the "Mail" client working on a fix?
