DHCP Error - "MMC failed to initialise snap-in" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi! All fellow IT Engineers,

We have DHCP running on Windows 2008 R2 Standard server.

When I go to DHCP - - click on Address Leases it right away displays an error "MMC failed to initialize snap-in" and shows a little red cross sign on Address Leases.

Also it's deleting Reservation for some pc's and then i have to assign Static Ip address for the workstation.

I'll highly appreciate any Solution for this issue.

(Note:I have checked the forums related to same query and some solutions were to copy v2.0.50727 under the folder c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64 from a working system to the broken system. But i don't wanna try that just incase if it will effect other programs on our server like Ms-Sql,etc)

Looking forward for some solutions soon.

  • Hi

How many DHCP servers do you have in domain?

Also make sure all of them have been authorized to domain.

Check event log, you may have some errors there. If yes please send error number and content.
