SyncToy + different workstations with different system times RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Is SyncToy capable of doing backups under the following setup?:
I have multiple workstations, each with different system times (can differ up to some hours!). I am working only on one workstation at the same time. Backups are stored on an external disk and should be performed with SyncToy.
Now the problem (that I am facing with robocopy) is, that a file on the backup disk can have a newer time stamp (because of the incorrect system time on another workstation) then the timestamp of the most recent version of a file (e.g. on a machine with a system time that is behind the real current time). Can SyncToy handle this?

    Regards,

  • SyncToy will look at file times too to determine the last writer. These computers are not in different time zones - they just have the incorrect time on them - right? SyncToy can handle different time zones, but the incorrect time will throw it off at least for conflicts.
