Prolific PL2303 TA USB to Serial driver for Windows compact 2013 RRS feed

  • Prolific PL2303 TA USB to Serial driver for Windows compact 2013

    Hi,

I am trying to use WEC 2013 USB to serial driver by enabling SYSGEN_USB_SER. But i am facing an issue using this driver with Prolific USB to serial cable.

On connecting cable, I can see COM port entry and i can perform Com Open and setup operation successfully.

But, When i am sending data on this COM port, No data appears at receiving PC end (DB9 connector) at Tera term.

I also tried integrating driver provided by Prolific  for WinCE, but, it seems to be quite old and i am getting following  error during linking.

"EXEC : error : Module USBSER.dll built for Thumb, kernel built for Thumb2"

I came across following post on msdn

"USB HOST CDC in WEC7" , answered by Luca Calligaris

Luca mentioned FTDI and prolific do not follow the CDC-ACM class specification but they have a custom implementation.

Can someone please guide me how to fix this issue or from where i can find WEC 2013 ARM supported PL2303 TA driver.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Lokesh Kumar

  • You can not make that driver work on WEC2013. It is a driver built for WEC7, and that OS is not binary compatible with WEC2013. The only way is to ask Prolific to recompile their driver for WEC2013 or get the source so you can do it yourself.

  • Are you bound to Prolific chips? Their drivers are horrible and the chips are mostly faulty in my experience. Get an FTDI chip if you can, and use their drivers. It all works, also in CE.

  • Hi Michel,

    Thanks for replying.

Our BSP has FTDI driver support, but one of the peripheral has prolific chip, so we need to support that too.

unfortunately driver available on prolific website for arm is giving compilation error while integrating.

    we are getting following error:

EXEC : error : Module USBSER.dll built for Thumb, kernel built for Thumb2

Can you please tell how did you make this driver work for you ?

    Thanks and regards,

    Lokesh Kumar
