  • I got the same error.  If you are building a windows 10 universal app you can not publish directly to the store yet. The problem I found is that the manifest has microsoft as the Publisher ID not yours.  So I did the following.

    1. Download Visual Studio 2015 (Community Edition is free).

    2. Then I downloaded the source code of my solution.

    3. Load the source code of your solution in the Visual Studio and open the Manifest and modify the information in it with your information.

    5. Compile your application with the new manifest inside visual studio.

    4. Then I went into app developer dashboard website and submitted the app that way.

Here is the link they have on the windows apps studio site

    • Publish package:

The generation of packages ready to publish to the Windows Store is not supported with the current release of Windows App Studio, when generating a project targeting the Windows 10.

    I hope this helps.

  • Hi,

Can you please let us know which version of app are you trying to publish? If you are trying to publish Windows 10 apps, the W10 feature is in preview and that we don’t support the creation of the publish package. Here is the blog for more information:http://blogs.msdn.com/b/windows_app_studio_news/p/windows10-known-issues.aspx.

We are update the Windows App Studio News: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/windows_app_studio_news/ once we have the publish package for Windows 10 ready.
